Congratulations! I'm sure you both will do excellent.

1: One of the biggest schisms the site has is the divide between the experienced developers who are active on the site and the mass of inexperienced but enthusiastic people wanting to develop games. What is your stance on the issue, and what role, if any, do you see diamond mods as having on making sure the site remains a useful tool for getting answers to ...

Douglas Gregory (DMGregory) Nomination Game design questions are generally underserved by our site, often because many really interesting game design questions are open-ended. What (if anything) do you feel you should or could do to change this, as a moderator? As a game designer myself, I have a lot of experience helping fellow devs understand ...

Are you considering running in the election? If so, is there something holding you back; if not, why not? Since you ask: I considered it. I nominated myself for the 2013 election, and I'm right now wearing the T-shirt I got for trying. The logo is so faded I can barely see it, but it means a lot to me. I am apparently still №1 close and reopen reviewer ...

This is the "inverse" of question 2 proposed in the Question text: How would you handle a situation where another mod did not close/delete/etc a question that you feel should have been, and they answered it too?

There's a perception among developers that StackExchange is elitist / unwelcoming, or that established/high-rep users are on a "power trip" and out to bully new users. See for example these pieces on frustrations with StackOverflow: John Slegers on "The Decline of StackOverflow" Jason Sachs on the "Soup Nazi" effect Jonah Bishop - "StackOverflow hates new ...

Alexandre Vaillancourt Nomination Game design questions are generally underserved by our site, often because many really interesting game design questions are open-ended. What (if anything) do you feel you should or could do to change this, as a moderator? That’s a tricky one. I think there is some room for lowball, relatively generic questions ...

The sock puppets have been flag spamming. There isn't an interface for mods to restore comments as far as I can see. On the election page there isn't even a mechanism to see deleted comments directly, I have to go through the users history to see them (which presupposes that I know who posted them in the first place). I also don't think the mod tools have ...

How do you compare against the other candidates?

Some too-young-to-use-the-site users come and ask questions here. Some very new developers come and ask questions here. Those too-young users are not allowed to use the site and should be reported (with their account deleted by the CMs), and very new developers ask off-topic questions that need to be closed. They're often desperate and need help. How do you ...

I considered running and concluded being a mod would change my participation in ways I do not want.

Here is a set of general questions, gathered as very common questions asked every election. As mentioned in the instructions, the first two questions are guaranteed to show up in the Q&A, while the others are if there aren't enough questions (or, if you like one enough, you may split it off as a separate answer for review within the community's 8). How ...

A huge percentage of questions get closed (roughly every 8th or 5000 out of the current 40,000 questions not counting the deleted ones), a big chunk of these ask for software, book or technology recommendations. What would you do to solve this issue?

Chris McFarland Nomination Game design questions are generally underserved by our site, often because many really interesting game design questions are open-ended. What (if anything) do you feel you should or could do to change this, as a moderator? My answer to common, broad game design questions is generally: prototype it and test it out. ...

Aren't you afraid, that you will burn out solving mundane issues that you could ignore before?

Being a moderator will definitely take some of your time. Candidates are usually people with reputation gained by answering questions. Are you still going to take the same time to actually answer questions? Or are we losing some of the great answers because you are becoming a mod?

3

Do you want to make this site more friendly to newcomers and beginners? If yes, how do you want to do it when these people are most likely to ask questions, that are discouraged here?

With great powers come great responsibilities and influence. As a newly elected moderator, what behaviour(s) that you had as a non-moderator will you change, if any, whether it is about voting, interactions with other users, interventions on meta, etc.?
